German-speaking market: More potential for Malta in the years to come

22 February 2016

With improved connectivity and more promotional initiatives from the Maltese side, the German-speaking market has the potential to grow further in the coming years. This relates not only to tourism, but to business in general.

Attractive flight offers by Air Malta and Ryanair, to name just two airlines, and specific advertising campaigns are expected to provide additional exposure for the Maltese Islands especially in Germany and thus strengthen German tourism to Malta in 2016.

Double-decker buses in Berlin

MTA, the Malta Tourism Authority, has started to promote the Maltese Islands via public transport in the German capital Berlin and will continue to advertise Malta via images on Berlin double-decker buses displaying stunning Maltese motives. The branded buses creating a visibility for Malta around the vast German capital with some 3.4 million inhabitants will last for 12 months until February 2017. The campaign will be ongoing during ITB, the world largest tourism fair in March (9.3.2016 – 13.3.2016) in Berlin.

With more than 30 million overnight stays Berlin has been one of the top tourist destinations globally in 2015.

Additional promotional measures for Malta in Germany include Malta inserts in business and trade magazines such as Der Spiegel and also sponsorship of sport teams in Germany.

More German-international start-up companies in Malta

The awareness of Malta for German businesses has increased as well in the last around 3 years. This relates especially to a growing number of start-ups and SMEs for which Malta becomes an interesting place due to its business-friendly approach, a clear and short process of company formation, a multi-lingual and well-trained workforce and a number of tax incentives. At Kresse International we take care about a growing number of German clients from this segment, may it be in the I-Gaming, financial services or other industries.
